One of our most popular channels is the Celebrity area so it gives great pleasure to showcase a truly iconic lady and one of the most revered celebrities in the world the one and only Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who is coming to visit the United Kingdom for the first time in more than two decades

Aung San Suu Kyi

The Burmese Nobel Peace Prize winner will be following this itinerary as she travels around the British Isles.
• Visit Oxford – Her former home town and university.
• Address both Houses of Parliament in London.
• Meet Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
• Have an audience with Prime Minister David Cameron.
• She starts the tour in Dublin with Bono of U2.

Plus she will meet her two sons Alexander and Kim Aris and many close friends she has not seen for more than twenty four years. Her late husband Michael Aris died in 1999 aged 53 of cancer while at the time Aung San Suu Kyi was isolated in Burma and the ruling junta refused to give her dying husband a Burmese visa so he could visit his beloved wife and say his final goodbyes!

For all our readers who are not familiar with Aung San Suu Kyi watch this documentary – quote – by Rebecca Frayn, screenwriter of The Lady, a recent feature film documenting her life.
