The asshole who fucked us over hacked into Ozami via my Log-In. He did a mass deletion at 17:44, 28th Jan 2008 and the asswipe's IP address is: 193.19.223.4

I guess he didn't figure on me checking the moderator log. I want this bastard hunted down - I want him to pay. Somehow, some way - - he must pay.

Anyone who brings his identity to me will get automatic VIP membership.

Okay so - the only person I know from Croatia is our former comrade in arms, our former "Super" Administrator is.... (drum roll please) .... Melkior

I really, really hope it wasn't Melky. I really do. :(

Melkior was L33+ (he could have gotten in anyway)

uumm should this thread really be in the bar tho??
and why would Melky do the hacking? he would've had at least the same (if not more) admin priviliges as Max anyway...

He had no more access

I think he had his reasons

Okay, one and all

I just heard from Melkior and - - it wasn't him. He told me that he put too much blood, sweat, and tears into this site to hack it. He still considers Ozami (in its current form) as his baby. His "gem" as he called it.

He didn't do it.

We have put a bock on the IP address that the hacker left behind, but chances are it was a dynamic address and so probably does little or no good.

We'll just have to rebuild as we go.

Max, as someone who used to do network defense for the Air Force, you'd be hard pressed to find a hacker based on their IP address. Those point you in the general direction, yes, but they can be masked several times over.

Plus, the fact that your hack was from Croatia isn't surprising. Most of the "hits" we got on the AF network were from either China or from Eastern Europe. Occasionally, we'd get one from the US and we could drill down and see not only the city and state, but also the fact that the IP was on a college campus and the computer was in X Hall, in room Y, and on terminal Z. That was pretty cool.

But the ones from Europe and China were a dead end. You just had to have faith that our network had updated their virus and trojan software every day (which I was also one of the people in charge of) and that nothing new was coming down the pipe that a fix hadn't been made for yet.

We got hit a couple of times when I was there, mostly with the viruses that were hitting every other network in the world. But the only time that our network actually got hacked in the two plus years I was there was when some a-hole in at the hospital forgot to update his virus protection for seven freaking months!

Yeah, that was two straight days of no sleep that I'll never get back. If I could have found the guy who didn't update his software I'd have killed him. Thankfully for him, he'd already moved on to another base.

Actually. . .

(cough)"some of us" did a pretty good job of tracking the bastage down.

bastage? I'm assuming you mean you did track the guy who hacked you?

Yeah we got right down to the ISP and city.

("Bastage" is from "Johnny Dangerously" a very funny movie)

One of the few films I've never seen. Personally, I would have gone with, "Actually we tracked his IP, and, well... we nuetronized it, you know what that means? A complete particle reversal. It's Miller time!"

Well - - - I must say - - - the fucker really screwed us over. My only question is why he did it? Why delete all the members? Why just delete the bar section and leave everything else? I mean, he hacked us, but his actions seemed thought out - like he had a purpose....

Well
you already know my thoughts about that.

Perhaps you are reading too much into it... perhaps not. Most of the hacks I've heard about of boards, chat rooms, etc. are very thorough. Members are deleted, rules are changed, stuff is deleted... it's usually pretty bad.
